• Salary: From HEE Level 5/6 step 1 $51,714 p.a.

This position is responsible to the Museum Director and assists in the day-to-day management of collections, providing expertise in the registration, cataloguing and storage of Museum materials; maintaining database records, documenting, loans and supervising object movement and conducting research on collections as directed.

ROLE STATEMENT
To manage the Museum’s Objects Collections; to register, document, catalogue and store these materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under limited direction, to:-
1. Review the collections management policies of the Museum, making recommendations for streamlining procedures, and implementing new policies;
2. Review and maintain up to date records on the collections;
3. Register new acquisitions, research and document their provenance, and catalogue the items; as well as to review and update documentation for existing collections from time to time as required; 4. Prepare items for storage, and advise on conservation requirements;
5. Review and recommend appropriate storage facilities for the collections;
6. Maintain documentation on loans, prepare condition reports and review the suitability of works for loan;
7. Assist in the preparation of exhibition, control objects movement; prepare and review condition reports on items for exhibition;
8. Conduct research on the collections, and communicate this from time to time through reports, publications and conference attendance;
9. Contribute to reports
10. Provide training and assistance to staff;
11. Other duties as directed.
